About Shaku

A clothing size is not a measurement. A women's size 10 from one label can differ from a size 10 from another by several centimetres at the waist, and the same brand can change its own grading between seasons or between production runs. Vanity sizing, fit models with different proportions, and knit versus woven construction all pull the same number in different directions.

The result is familiar: you order two or three sizes of the same garment, keep one, and send the rest back. That is expensive for you in time, expensive for retailers in processing, and wasteful in shipping and packaging.

Shaku combines your measurements with available sizing information. Depending on the item, that information may be a product chart or a broader brand and category reference. Check the source and measuring method before relying on a recommendation.

Recommendations are guidance, not a guarantee. Missing measurements, differences between charts and personal fit preferences can change the result. A product listing does not necessarily include garment-specific measurements; check the retailer's current chart and returns policy.

Alongside sizing, Shaku offers visual search — finding similar items from a photo — and a discovery feed for browsing by category and brand.

Shaku is a technology and discovery service. We do not manufacture, stock, sell, or ship clothing. When you decide to buy, you buy from the retailer, on the retailer's own site, under their pricing, shipping, returns, and customer-service terms.

We also do not guarantee that a recommended size will fit. Size guidance depends on the accuracy of your measurements and on the garment data the retailer publishes, and both can be wrong or out of date. Treat our guidance as one useful input, and check the retailer's own size chart and returns policy before ordering.
