Bags don't have a body-fit problem the way clothing does, but they have their own version of the same issue: the product photo rarely tells you the dimensions that actually matter day to day. Two bags that look similar in a thumbnail can differ by inches in height, width, and depth — differences that decide whether a laptop, a water bottle, or a day's essentials actually fit inside.

Strap drop (how far a shoulder or crossbody strap hangs the bag from your shoulder) is the closest thing bags have to a fit measurement, and it interacts with your height and torso length the way a garment's rise interacts with your waist. A strap drop that sits comfortably on one person can sit at the hip on someone shorter or ride too high on someone taller.

Structure matters for how a bag wears over time: a structured bag with reinforced panels holds its shape when it's full; an unstructured, soft-construction bag will slouch and mold to its contents. Neither is wrong, but they photograph differently empty than they'll look loaded, which is worth remembering when comparing product images.
